In this guide, we'll learn how to use the new Glitter Video Tool Guide feature to convert existing videos into step-by-step guides automatically!
This feature allows you to transform recordings, such as:
• Microsoft Teams recordings
• Zoom meetings
• Real life videos of physical processes
Into comprehensive guides by uploading them to Glitter.
We'll explore how to navigate the Glitter dashboard, select and upload videos, and utilize the tool's capabilities to detect clicks and add instructions. This process is ideal for creating concise guides, ensuring they remain easy to consume and effective for sharing information.
Let's get started
Here's a brief overview of the new Glitter Video Tool Guide feature, now available for all your accounts. First, navigate to your Glitter dashboard. Go to Glitter.io and click on "My Account."

This will take us to a page where we can click on "New Guide."

Notice there are now four options instead of three. Previously, you could create using the browser extension, record any app on your computer with the desktop app, or start from scratch. You can now click on "Convert Existing Video." Let's proceed with that.

Next, you can either click on "Select Video" to open the file selector on your computer, or drag and drop any file onto the selection area. I will proceed with that. I will drag a file over. Now we can trim and crop only the part of the video we want.

Videos can be anything: they could be a Microsoft Teams or Zoom meeting. They could be an existing screen share you already have, or real-life videos of you teaching something, like a manufacturing or construction process or similar topics.

You can see that they all appear here alongside the text from your video, whether it was a meeting or a screen share you recorded earlier. You can view everything here, and all of it is editable. If you clicked during those videos, especially during a screen share, Glitter detects the mouse's location and clicks. It then adds steps and instructions accordingly. This is a powerful method to transform any existing recording into a step-by-step guide or SOP. One quick recommendation.
