Demonstrating the New Import Functionality for Guides

Explore the seamless import functionality for guides, featuring easy HTML integration, animations, and editable options.

By Yuval Karmi

In this guide, we'll learn how to use the new import functionality to seamlessly integrate HTML content into the Glitter platform. This process allows you to quickly import guides, making them editable and interactive with features like animations and call-outs. By following these steps, you can efficiently manage and customize your guides, ensuring they are ready for deployment and live use.

Let's get started

Hello, Ari. I hope you're doing well. I wanted to demonstrate the new import functionality. It works as promised, but I'd like to have a call to try it on various guides. Here's how it works.

I'm going to grab the HTML you sent me. I already have it open in this text editor.

1
Step #1: Click here
2
Open the html of the guide you want to import
Step #2: Open the html of the guide you want to import
3
Select all the text with "Cmd + A" or "Ctrl + A" then copy it

In the import interface (currently running locally), just paste in the text.

4
Click the import box
Step #4: Click the import box
5
Type "Cmd + V" or "Ctrl + V"
6
Click on "Import Guide"
Step #6: Click on "Import Guide"

It performs several tasks in the background quickly. After that, I can either import another guide or view the imported guide.

7
Click on "View Imported Guide"
Step #7: Click on "View Imported Guide"

it works seamlessly.

The import functionality supports the cursor position, and it's editable like any other Glitter guide.

If I wanted to go into Edit and click on, let's say, Edit Hotspot, I could easily do that. Just move it around like any other normal Glitter guide, blur things, and edit as usual.

8
Click on "Edit"
Step #8: Click on "Edit"
9
You can edit the hotspot, screenshot, and text as usual
Step #9: You can edit the hotspot, screenshot, and text as usual

This also supports tips and notices.

If your guides include call-outs or additional information, it accommodates those as well. I would love to run through a test with you and see.
