Guide to Creating Assets and Asset Types in AnyWare Asset Management System

Learn how to create and manage asset types in the Anywhere Asset Management System, including setting attributes and adding new assets.

By Mark

In this guide, we'll learn how to create and manage asset types using the AnyWare Asset Management System. Asset types serve as the blueprint for defining assets, allowing for the organization and categorization of various asset details. We will explore how to create a new asset type, add attributes, and subsequently create assets under this type. This process includes defining metadata, selecting communication protocols, and specifying asset details such as location and supplier information.

Let's get started

The AnyWare Asset Management System is structured around asset types, which serve as blueprints for defining assets. To create an asset type, navigate to the Asset Type tab in the menu. Click the plus button to begin creating your new asset type.

Every asset type can have user-defined metadata, known as attributes. To add attributes to an asset type, click on the Attributes tab. Then, add the asset types you want, such as criticality level or build year. You can also specify whether a field is mandatory when creating an asset under this asset type.
