How to Enter Constellation Bills into QuickBooks Using Text Blaze
Learn a quick and efficient method to enter Constellation bills into QuickBooks using a Text Blaze snippet. Follow our step-by-step guide to streamline your billing process.
In this guide, we'll learn how to efficiently enter Constellation bills into QuickBooks using a Text Blaze snippet. This process involves duplicating previous bills and updating necessary details, ensuring accurate financial records. We'll also explore how to navigate Constellation's website to retrieve billing information and use QuickBooks' features to streamline the entry process. By the end of this guide, you'll be able to manage these entries with ease.
Example 1
In QuickBooks: open the Vendor Center and pull up Constellation Energy's account

In your browser: pull up Constellation Energy's website
Go to their website. I'm using Vivaldi, but there's also a bookmark in Chrome that leads to Constellation's website. A link is provided at the bottom of this guide, also.
Login. The username and password are stored in Bitwarden.

Click on the email address or phone number field. A dropdown will appear, and you can select it. (if it doesn't, you may not be logged into Bitwarden)

That will log you in. Once logged in, you will see the balance summary at the top.

After entering all six bills into QuickBooks, we should see this number for the total.
Scroll down to view the billing history.

The top six are the ones we want, and it also shows some from the previous statement below.

You have -5, -0, -3, -4, -1, and -2. In QuickBooks, you'll see the same numbers followed by the cabin or building they correspond to. (In QuickBooks, it's organized in a way that makes sense - you know, in numerical order... 🤔)

You can proceed in any order, but I'll start in QuickBooks and go down the list. We'll begin with -0, and if I look at Constellation, the second line is -0.
Copy the $$ amount for the bill you're entering!
You need to copy the amount of money. If you don't, you can't use this snippet correctly, because it will paste whatever you've copied into the amount field.

Duplicate the previous month's corresponding bill
Open QuickBooks and locate the corresponding bill from the previous month.

Click "Create a Copy," then STOP!!

When the "Duplicate Bill" prompt appears on your screen,
DO NOT click "OK" !!

Immediately type "/con" without the quotations
This single snippet does everything else for you, and in a few seconds, you'll find yourself back at the account screen.
Verify it worked correctly
Look up and you should see that a duplicate bill was created and dated at the end of the previous month.

Check the details. Today is April 24th, and this bill is dated March 31st - perfect.
The amount matches exactly with what we copied from Constellation's website - perfect.
Example 2
Now, you can bring up the next one, which is -1, for the Gate Cottage.

Click "Create a Copy."

Then, return to the browser and look for "-1," which is the sixth option down, as their website is not intuitive.

Double-click on the amount of money to highlight it, then copy it using your preferred method.

For example, you can use a keyboard shortcut instead of right-clicking, if you prefer.
Return to QuickBooks.

Do not click "OK" on that prompt. Instead, type /con
Quickly check, and you should see that the bill has been duplicated and dated March 31st with the new dollar amount.

Repeat this for the remaining items. Once you get the hang of it, the process is very quick to enter all 6 bills.
