Using Vista's Profiles and Universal Mentions for Social Management
Learn how to efficiently manage multiple social media profiles in Vista, utilize the Select Profiles feature, and streamline your posting process with universal mentions. Step-by-step guide for EasyStar, John Brown's Body, and more.
In this guide, we'll learn how to use Vista to draft and customize social media posts for different profiles and platforms. We will focus on selecting the correct profile, using the universal mentions feature to manage usernames across networks, and ensuring posts are tailored for each platform. This process helps avoid posting to the wrong account and saves time when managing multiple social profiles.
Let's get started
In Vista, "Select Profiles" option on the left side.

This tells you which group of profiles you want to work with at any given time. Theoretically, I could draft a post for each of these entities and have it published everywhere simultaneously.

For this, we just want to post from Easy Star Records.

We don't want to post on Instagram. Um... That could get complicated if you have EasyStar selected with an artist who is completely different. Yeah. I mean- Or- ...

It would be somewhat difficult to accidentally post as the wrong person.

Okay. I haven't done this in a while. First, I will open Instagram on my phone because JBB invited us to be a collaborator for EasyStar, and I need to accept the invitation. I did that. Now that EasyStar is listed, we've already posted on Instagram, so we don't need to include Instagram in the list of networks.

Next, click Create. Then select Find Content, and choose Find Content by Specific Instagram User.

John Brown's Body Music is their profile.

It will then display everything they have posted.

Then I'll click "Create a Post."

It will automatically capture the video and the copy they used, although none of this copy is very good.

Vista has a feature called universal mentions. In this section, I am drafting the baseline copy. This is the copy that will be used for every selected social platform. I can also customize it for each platform if I want.

as well. Excuse me.

Part of customizing is that everyone has different usernames on various social platforms. For example, on Instagram it's John Brown's Body Music, on Facebook it's just John Brown's Body, and on YouTube it's John Brown's Body TV. Right? Instead of having to remember or look it up every time we post about John Brown's Body, we can just use the universal mentions feature. When you mention them for the first time in this section, click the add button. Then, create a saved mention, which I will demonstrate.

Uh. What is this? At least Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Yes. Let's make sure you can search the platform. You can simply search for the username.
I want to make sure this is correct. Is Twitter still relevant?

do you think? Or it's just one of those things. ... people do just- Well- ... do.
... It's similar to having a Blue Sky for EasyStar Records. If we're drafting the copy in Vista's universal section and only need to have it checked, why not do it?

You know? Why not? It is worth it. Um- Yeah.

But is it really?

Is anyone actually using this? I'm frustrated, but we're going to put it there anyway. For- Yeah. This is a good example. On TikTok, if I start typing, it doesn't search for the username the way Instagram and Twitter do.
If I start here and type "John Brown's Body," it's just like using a regular search bar, right? And it will slowly come back with...
