Overview of the Glitter AI Desktop App: A Guide to Recording and Transcribing
Discover how to use the Glitter desktop app to record and transcribe guides effortlessly. Learn about the app's main windows, recording options, and how to create a simple guide.
In this guide, we'll learn how to navigate and utilize the Glitter desktop app to create a step-by-step guide. We'll explore the three main windows of the app: the main Glitter window, the controls window, and the camera window. Understanding these components will help you effectively record and transcribe your process into a guide. We'll also cover how to select recording options, such as choosing which screen or window to capture, and whether to include audio or video. By the end, you'll be able to create a simple guide, like conducting a Google search, using Glitter's features.
Let's get started
Hello. Today, I will provide an overview of the Glitter desktop app. We want to review the three windows that open when you launch the Glitter desktop app on your computer. Here is our main Glitter window.

We have our camera window right here, which you can move around.

This is my current status. To record a guide with Glitter, start recording and proceed with your process. Glitter will transcribe everything you say into text for the guide.

Any clicks you make while demonstrating the process on your computer will become steps in your guide. Here's an overview of the different controls we have. Then, we'll record a guide as a test so you can understand what happens.
After opening the Glitter desktop app on our computer, we see three main controls. You can control which screen to record if you have multiple monitors connected to your computer. Alternatively, you can choose to record a specific window, such as just the browser or the notes window. We have the ability to choose. In this case, I have two windows, but I'll go with the full-screen option here.

We can choose whether to record audio or not.
I will record audio so that my speech is transcribed into the guide. However, if you want to disable this option, you can do so, and it will no longer be visible.

If we click to select the camera, we can choose to have no camera at all, so I'll disappear now.

If I want to show a camera, I can choose from the different cameras connected to my computer. Perhaps you only have one. I will choose my iPhone camera, which is a high-quality camera connected to my computer.

On the left side, we have our recording controls. Here, we have the amount of time available for recording, which will count down.

On any pro plan or higher, you can record up to 60 minutes on your guide. Next, we have our stop, pause, and blur options. If we want to blur sensitive information, we can do that as well. This is outside the scope, so we won't cover it. Finally, click on "Start Recording." It will count down.
Recording the Guide
To begin recording an actual, click on Start Recording.

Here is a guide on how to conduct a Google search. First, open Google Chrome if it's not already open.

I'll open Google Chrome and go to google.com. Now, I can click the search bar, type "What's the weather?" and hit enter.

And that is how you conduct a Google search.
Wrapping Up
Now, I will stop recording this guide. It will upload, and you'll see that even though it only took a few seconds to record, it's a simple process. It will be transcribed and included in the final guide. It takes a minute. It now says, "Transcribing your recording." We can see that we clicked here.

Type "google.com" and press Enter. Click... It mistakenly identified the small cursor as an eye. So, we can say, "Click on the search box."

Type "What's the weather?" You'll see that everything we did during the guide is transcribed. We also have our original 32-second video recording.

If we want to keep that, we can. If we want to hide it from viewers, we can click "Make video hidden from guide viewers." That's how easy it is to create a guide with Glitter AI on your desktop.
