Putaway Strategy Types

How to Set It Up:
Putaway strategies can be configured in two easy ways:
a. Through the UI: Go to Masters > Putaway Strategy
b. Via Excel Upload: Navigate to Extras > Uploads and select Putaway Strategy Master from the dropdown

These strategies control how and where SKUs are stored after they are received into the warehouse.

Dynamic Bin – Top-Up
a. System suggests existing locations where the same SKU or SKU Category is already stored (based on setup).
b. Purpose:
– To consolidate inventory
– To optimize space usage
Dynamic Bin – Empty Location
a. System recommends only completely empty locations for putaway.
b. Follows the configured Put & Get Sequence to decide location priority.
c. Purpose:
– To avoid SKU mixing
– Useful for isolating high-value, sensitive, or bulky SKUs
Fixed Bin Mapping
a. Each SKU is mapped to a specific location with a defined maximum quantity limit.
b. Purpose:
– Ideal for fast movers or SKUs that need dedicated zones

PUTAWAY STRATEGY MASTER : UI

Step #1: Navigate to "Masters" in the side panel. — Navigate to "**Masters**" in the side panel.

Step #2: Click on "Putaway Strategies" — Click on "**Putaway Strategies**"

Step #3: Click on "+ Add" to add new Putaway Strategy Mapping. — Click on "**+ Add**" to add new Putaway Strategy Mapping.

DYNAMIC BIN - TOP UP

Step #5: Choose if this strategy to be used for PO( Purchase Order) or SR(Sales Return). — Choose if this strategy to be used for PO( Purchase Order) or SR(Sales Return).

Step #6: Select the Quantity type, whether Accepted or Rejected at GRN. — Select the Quantity type, whether **Accepted** or **Rejected** at GRN.

Step #7: Add Return Type, SKU, ZONE and Priority of the this Strategy for this SKU. — Add **Return Type**, **SKU**, **ZONE** and **Priority** of the this Strategy for this SKU.

FIXED BIN MAPPING

Step #10: The Mappings can bee seen on the screen. — The Mappings can bee seen on the screen.

PUTAWAY STRATEGY MASTER : UPLOADS

Step #11: Navigate to the side panel. — Navigate to the side panel.

Step #12: Click on "Extras" — Click on "**Extras**"

Step #13: Click on "Uploads" — Click on "**Uploads**"

Step #14: Click on the dropdown and choose "Putaway Mapping Master". — Click on the dropdown and choose "**Putaway Mapping Master**".

Step #15: Click on "Download Format". An excel file with necessary columns will be downloaded. — Click on "**Download Format**". An excel file with necessary columns will be downloaded.

Step #16: Open the file. — Open the file.

Step #17: A file with columns related to the Upload form will appear. — A file with columns related to the Upload form will appear.

Step #18: Fill the form with the Putaway strategy mappings. — Fill the form with the Putaway strategy mappings.

Step #19: Save the file, — Save the file,

Step #20: Click on "+ Choose" to upload the file from local system. — Click on "**+ Choose**" to upload the file from local system.

Step #21: Choose the file with saved relevant data. — Choose the file with saved relevant data.

Step #22: Click on the "Upload File" icon for the WMS to validate the data and add it to the system. — Click on the "**Upload File**" icon for the WMS to validate the data and add it to the system.

Uploads Status :

1. Completed - Successfully uploaded the file, and can see the details in the Move Inventory page.
2. Invalid - Check if the format of the uploaded file matches the selected form in the dropdown.
3. Failed - Download the Failed file by clicking on it. This file shows the reasons for failure in the last column of the file. Do not use this same file to upload, change the details in file uploaded earlier or download new csv file and try again.

Step #24: Navigate to "Masters". Click on "Putaway Strategies" — Navigate to "**Masters**". Click on "**Putaway Strategies**"
