Latest Updates
The Glitter AI release notes and changelog page. Every feature, improvement, and company milestone across web and desktop.
Add an AI Voiceover to silent recordings, too
A screen recording with no speech can now get an AI Voiceover. Glitter writes the narration from the written guide, an intro from the title and a line for each step, timed to the clicks so lines never overlap.
October 2026
Simplified dashboard view
Open the dashboard and see your newest guides in one table, with a Location column that tells you at a glance which are still drafts and which the team can already see, so you know what to finish next. Starting a recording is one click from the same page.
Upgrade without leaving Glitter
Every upgrade and first purchase now happens in a checkout inside the app, which shows the plan change and its price before charging. Depending on your role, you can pay, ask an admin, or contact sales.
Edit your video right beside the guide
Trim, Crop, AI Voiceover and Background are now panels in the guide page's sidebar, with a timeline docked under the guide's own player. Glitter asks before you leave with unsaved changes.
Send a guide and set each person's access
Send a guide to several people from one invite dialog and give each their own role on it, editor by default. Paste a list of addresses or pick from organization members.
Every guide shared with you, in one place
The Shared with Me page lists every guide shared directly with you, across teams and organizations. Search, sort and filter it, and the sidebar entry counts the shares you have not opened yet.
Accept an invite on your own terms
Opening a guide or organization invite link now shows a card, and nothing happens until you click Accept. Signed in to another account? The card lets you switch and come back.
Webhooks for your own automations
Admins can now add webhook endpoints in Settings and pick which guide and member events to send. Glitter sends signed HTTPS deliveries and retries failures, and most events arrive within seconds.
One Settings area for your whole organization
One Settings area now covers your whole organization on every plan, with pages shown by your role. The plan, seats and credits are shared across the organization's teams.
Pull your guides into your own tools
Pull your guides into your own tools with Glitter's read-only REST API. Admins create API keys in Settings, scoped to the organization or named teams, and a key can fetch any guide as JSON or Markdown.
Read the developer docs →Choose how much detail your guide keeps
Pick how much detail a guide keeps: Concise, Balanced or Full, where Full keeps the source word for word minus spoken filler and typos. Glitter proposes a rewrite you can accept or dismiss, for 1 credit.
Sign up straight into your team
Sign up while a team invite is waiting and you land on the invite, not in an empty team of your own. With several invites, you see a list and can join or decline each one.
Connect your AI assistant on any plan (MCP)
Anyone on a team can now connect an AI assistant to Glitter over MCP, on every plan. A new MCP tab in Account has the server address and step-by-step setup for popular assistants.
Scanned PDFs import as cleanly as text ones
PDF import now has AI read every page as an image, so a scanned PDF, or one whose text is drawn as pictures, comes in as cleanly as a text one.
Pick which part of a long video to keep
Keep any stretch of a long video up to your plan's video length: the trimmer's handles stop at the cap, and you drag the window to the part you want.
Record a guide in your browser
Record a guide without installing anything. The web app's recorder captures your screen and microphone in Chrome or Edge, and saves as you go so a closed tab loses nothing.
Finish signup with a real guide
New signups now finish by making their first guide: record, drop in a file, or open a welcome chat that turns the questions people keep asking them into draft guides.
Keep editing while your video exports
Keep editing while a video exports. The export runs in a downloads tray in the editor header with a progress bar, and a finished or failed export offers Download again or Try again.
Choose where your AI Avatar appears
AI Avatar is now its own tool beside AI Voiceover. Pick and preview an avatar, choose which sentences it appears on, and see the credit cost before you apply.
Long videos download as fast as short ones
Glitter now renders each video download in many short pieces at once, so long videos download as fast as short ones. Downloading the same video again is instant until it changes.
Polished guide videos without a video editor
Place a guide video on a wallpaper, a plain color or your own image, with padding, rounded corners and shadow, and crop it with a drag or a preset. Downloads show both.
Introducing our new plans with unlimited viewer seats
People who only read your guides no longer take a paid seat, on any plan. Invite the whole company and pay only for the people who create. The new plans, Free, Growth, Scale and Enterprise, are sized by the hours of video your team turns into guides, with yearly billing that saves 37%.
See pricing →Download the video you actually edited
Download Video now gives you the video as the player plays it, with cuts removed and AI Voiceover and AI Avatar included.
The whole product on your first guides
The Free plan now includes every Scale feature except branding removal, from AI Voiceover and translation to Word, PowerPoint and SCORM export. Exports, the API and MCP give a preview of each guide.
Manage how you sign in
See every way you can sign in, add Google or Microsoft, and remove a method you no longer use. You can also move a personal-email account to a work email, with your guides and credits.
Sign in with Microsoft
Teams on Microsoft 365 can now sign in with the account they already use for work. A Microsoft account opens the same Glitter account as its email address.
Big deletions now ask first, and keep a backup
Glitter now asks before any edit removes 5 or more steps or 10 or more blocks, with Keep as the default. Guides also save a version every five minutes of editing and right before any large deletion.
A new screenshot editor that is easier to use
Blur, annotate, crop and set the hotspot in one editor, with one row of tools for the mode you are in: arrows, boxes, text that wraps, zoom, copy and paste, and undo across all of it. Every save is a lossless PNG, so you can edit a screenshot again and again without blurring it.
September 2026
Turn your Word and PDF files into guides
The Import page now turns Word, PDF, PowerPoint, Excel, Markdown, text and RTF files into guides, with pictures placed where they sat. Import costs 1 credit per document, or 1 credit per 5 pages for a PDF.
A step for every click you record
When Glitter writes a guide from a short task recording, every pictured click stays a step, with its screenshot. Long working sessions still get condensed into a readable guide.
Add any block anywhere, faster
The More menu in the guide editor is now one flat list you can search, and a pick goes in right away. A plus button sits in every gap between blocks, including at the end of the guide.
Read the script before the voice speaks it
Setting up an AI Voiceover is now one pass: pick a voice, generate the script Glitter will read, edit any sentence you want changed, then choose an avatar or none. One Save at the end sets up all of it, and you see what it costs before you confirm.
An avatar for your guide videos
Pick an avatar and a person appears in the corner of your guide video, speaking your narration, so the guide feels like someone walking you through it rather than a recording. Choose from 17 avatars in a mix of looks and settings, or go without one. Voice and avatar are set up on one screen and confirmed once, you see the credit cost first, and swapping the avatar later never re-makes the voice.
Give your guide videos a clean AI Voiceover
First-take narration comes with ums and restarts. Now you can give a guide video a clean AI Voiceover without recording anything again: click the microphone next to the video and pick one of 12 voices, including two gender-neutral ones. Every voice speaks more than 70 languages, and a translated guide keeps the voice you picked. Glitter tidies up what you said and speaks it at your pace, every sentence stays editable, and your original recording is never touched.
Follow any guide video with the sound off
Press CC on the player and the words appear as they are spoken, whether the video uses an AI Voiceover or your own recording. Trimmed sections are left out, right-to-left languages read correctly, and the player remembers your choice.
Ask AI answers from all your team's guides
Ask AI used to answer questions about the guide you had open. Now it answers from every guide your team has. Ask "how do we issue a refund?" from the chat beside your guides and Glitter finds the guides that matter, reads them, and answers in plain English, citing the guide and step so you can click through and check.
Templates for everyone, with a preview before anything changes
The built-in templates are now available on every plan. Apply one to a guide and the rewrite streams into a preview first; your guide only changes when you click Keep, and Discard puts everything back. Custom templates come with the Custom Templates add-on.
Export to Word in your own letterhead
Upload a Word document with a single {{content}} placeholder and every guide you export drops right into it, headers, footers, and branding included. Keep several templates and pick one each time you export.
See exactly where a long recording is while Glitter writes it
Recordings with dozens of steps are now polished in stages, and the guide shows you which stage it is on, so you always know what Glitter is doing with a long recording.
HIPAA transcripts stay covered and redacted
For HIPAA organizations, every recording is transcribed only by the HIPAA-covered provider, and each transcript is redacted for personal data before it is saved.
Tell Glitter what is missing in seconds
A feedback button in the dashboard and editor headers sends your message straight to the founder as a support conversation. You can speak it instead of typing.
Full screen on iPhone and in embeds
Guide videos now go full screen on iPhone, using the phone's own video player. Embed snippets from the share menu allow full screen too, so a guide embedded on your own site can fill the screen.
Upload larger screenshots
Step screenshot uploads can now be up to 15 MB, up from 5 MB, so high-resolution screenshots go straight in without resizing them first.
More room for Ask AI, from any page
Widen the Ask AI panel by dragging its left edge, up to 720px, and Glitter remembers the width. An Ask AI pill beside search in the dashboard header opens the chat from any page.
Guides with many clips open faster
Guides with many clips and screenshots now open faster and use less data. Clip steps show a poster image and load nothing until the reader presses play.
Follow the transcript beside the guide
The transcript, with a Find box, and the table of contents now sit in side panels that push the guide aside instead of covering it. Readers who may watch the video can search the transcript too.
Guides keep the why, not only the clicks
When Glitter writes a guide from a recording, the explanations you speak, the why and the context, stay in the guide beside the step they belong to.
Ready-made recipes for questions across guides
Ask AI across your guides now comes with built-in recipes, What's new?, Onboarding plan and Team announcement, that each run a common request in one click.
Know what a credit action costs before you run it
Your credit balance now sits in a small ring in the app, showing how much of your plan you have used, with Buy more credits one hover away. Actions that cost credits show their price up front, and Glitter only asks you to top up when you are actually short.
Step numbers that stay right when you move things around
Restart numbering at any step, keep lists counting across headings, and turn a pasted list into steps. Numbers stay right when you drag steps around, and Word and PowerPoint exports carry the same numbering.
A new Trust Center
Glitter's security and compliance documentation now lives in its own Trust Center. Browse the policies, search them, and request the SOC 2 report in a few clicks.
Visit the Trust Center →Any moment of your recording can be a step
Pick any frame from the original recording as a step screenshot, and the click highlight moves with it. Inserting from a video is now two clear tools: Add a still frame and Add a clip.
Never lose a desktop recording, even if the app closes
The desktop app now saves and uploads your recording in 30-second segments as you record, so the guide is ready soon after Stop. If the app crashes or quits, the next launch offers Finish upload or Discard.
Ask AI can edit your guides
Select some text or a few steps, pick Ask AI, and say what you want: "combine steps 1 to 3", "rewrite this for a new hire", "translate the whole guide to Spanish". Every change lands as a highlighted suggestion you keep or discard, and Glitter saves a version first so you can always go back. Type / on an empty line to write right where your cursor is.
A home for your templates
Templates now have their own workspace. Browse them by name, open any one as a document you can edit, duplicate it or start fresh, and share it with your team or organization the same way you share a guide.
Right-to-left guides that read right
Guides in Hebrew, Arabic, and other right-to-left languages now read right to left throughout: the editor, the transcript, and Ask AI all follow the guide language automatically.
See your PDF before you upgrade
Export a watermarked PDF of any guide on any plan, so you can see exactly how it lays out before you pay for the clean copy.
Ask AI about any guide
Ask a question about a guide and get an answer grounded in it, with citations that jump to the exact step or moment in the video. Your conversation is saved, recipes run common requests in one click, and viewers of shared guides can ask too.
Talk to type
Click the mic beside a line in the editor and just talk. Your words appear as you speak, and dictation stops on its own when you do.
Viewers are free
On all of our newest plans, people who only read your guides no longer take a paid seat. Invite the whole company to read, and pay only for the people who create.
August 2026
Trim your recording right in Glitter
Cut the ums, the loading screens, and the wrong turns without leaving Glitter. The full-screen trim editor pairs a zoomable filmstrip with the transcript, so you can cut by picture or by word, undo anything, and nothing changes until you click Save. Your original recording is always kept.
Run every team without joining each one
Organization admins can now see every team and its members, and resend or revoke pending invites on teams they are not part of. Resend reuses the original link, so older emails keep working.
Recording controls that stay put on Windows
Your recording controls now stay on top and clickable on Windows, even after switching apps, so you can always pause or stop.
Switch teams and organizations instantly
Switching team or organization now happens in place, with no page reload, in the web app and the desktop app. The organization picker got a redesign too.
Uploads that finish, whatever the connection does
If your connection stalls or drops during an upload, the desktop app tells you what is happening and retries on its own. Close the app or lose power mid-upload and your recording is still waiting when you reopen it, ready to finish. An update will never interrupt you mid-recording to ask for a restart.
Sign in from behind a corporate firewall
The desktop app now signs in and uploads on corporate networks that inspect traffic. If something still blocks it, a built-in connection check tells you what is wrong and how to fix it.
The desktop app installs cleanly on locked-down computers
Every file in the Windows desktop app is now code-signed, not only the installer, so locked-down machines let it run. On Mac, the signed and notarized DMG opens without a warning.
A desktop app that withstands the spottiest connection
The desktop app now stays signed in through dropped and flaky connections; only a real sign-out or an expired session ends your session. If your account cannot load for a moment, a Retry screen holds your place instead of the login page.
Translations that read naturally in every language
Translation now works on whole blocks of the guide, so word order in languages such as Japanese, Korean and Turkish comes out right.
See your upload and guide progress as it happens
Uploading a video now shows real progress in a badge that changes with each phase: uploading, finalizing and processing. A guide that is still processing fills in on its own when it is done.
More accurate guides, with less editing after recording
Glitter now reads the exact spot you clicked, so each step names the button you pressed instead of the one beside it, and a web address shown in the video becomes a link the reader can click. Fewer steps to correct before you share.
Sign the desktop app into the right account
The browser pages that sign you into the desktop app are redesigned. They ask whether to sign in on this computer, offer Switch account, and end by telling you that you can close the tab.
Window recordings capture the right app
When you record a single window, the desktop app now brings it to the front as the recording starts, and ends the recording if the window closes.
Create guides from your phone
Turn a process into a guide with no computer needed. Record with your camera, capture your phone's own screen with step-by-step help for iPhone and Android, or upload a video you already have. Onboarding, the library, and the editor all fit a phone screen now.
Updates that never interrupt a recording
The desktop app now updates quietly in the background and never asks for a restart mid-recording. Mac users can also install from a standard DMG.
Microphone trouble, handled
If your mic is missing or disconnects, the desktop app tells you right away, helps you fix it, and picks the mic back up when it returns, so a recording never ends up silent by surprise.
Turn any video into a guide
Upload videos your browser can't even preview and Glitter still turns them into guides. Rotated and mirrored footage comes out the right way up, and trimming works with touch.
Camera and permission problems, handled
If your camera stream fails, the desktop app now removes the camera bubble and opens a camera troubleshooter. On Windows, onboarding links straight to the privacy setting that blocks your mic or camera.
Blur sensitive screens in one click
One click on the desktop app's floating controls now opens the blur editor, built into the app, with its own Done and Clear buttons. The controls hide while you draw.
A cleaner desktop app, and controls you can always find
The desktop app has a visual refresh, with pill buttons, a countdown ring and clearer onboarding. Lost your recording controls? Click the Glitter icon in the taskbar or dock and they come forward with a small shake.
Team admins can edit every guide in their team
Until now a guide had exactly one person who could change it, the one who recorded it. As a team admin you can now edit and export any guide in your team, including the ones shared view-only. Switch on Team Drafts in the library and your teammates' unfinished guides surface too, so good work stops dying in someone's drafts.
Hand a guide to someone else
People change roles, and their guides should not leave with them. As a team admin you can now reassign a guide to another member, take ownership of one yourself, or move it into a different team - straight from the guide menu, in a single step.
Decide once who can edit team guides
Guides published to a team land as view-only, which quietly makes every guide a one-person job. You can now set the default in Settings > Sharing, Can view or Can edit, and every guide published after that follows it. Creators can still override it per guide.
See who a guide reaches, at a glance
The Share menu is now three clear sections: Team access, Individual access, and Public link. Team access is a single dropdown - None, Can view, or Can edit - so you can tell in a second whether your team has this guide, and change it in a click. A chip shows which folder it lives in, and clicking it moves the guide.
See who holds each creator license, and export the list
You can now see exactly who is using a creator license. People settings show licenses in use against your plan, with a role filter and a one-click CSV export listing every person, their license type, and the teams that earn it. Ideal for a quarterly cleanup.
Find people and teams instantly
Stop copying email addresses around. Sharing a guide or inviting someone now suggests people as you type, starting with your team and then the rest of your organization, and you can add several at once. The team switcher is searchable too, so jumping between teams takes a few keystrokes.
No more accidental oversharing
Two quiet safeguards. Inviting someone who is not on your team now tells you plainly that they will join the team, see the full library, and use a seat before you confirm. And making a guide public to the internet takes a deliberate second step.
Pages that open instantly
Your library, settings, and guides now render the moment you click instead of showing a spinner while the data catches up. Same app, a lot less waiting.
Meet the people behind Glitter
The Glitter website has a new About page, linked from the footer, so you can read who is behind Glitter before you buy.
Read about Glitter →Organize folders from the list view
Drag guide and folder rows onto folders in the list view, with a preview of the row following your cursor. Folder rows also have a menu to rename, change the look or delete.
A faster, lighter desktop app
The desktop app now starts noticeably faster and runs on about half the memory. Every recording opens with a smooth countdown, and your controls stay right where you need them as you move between apps.
Run Glitter under a HIPAA agreement
Healthcare teams can now run Glitter under a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement, turned on per organization. AI-written text and transcripts replace patient and third-party details with placeholders such as [REDACTED NAME], and public sharing is locked off.
Learn about HIPAA →July 2026
Keep a departing member's guides
Removing a member from a team or the organization now opens a dialog that lists their guides by team. For each team, reassign the guides to another member, you by default, or delete them.
See what goes before you delete a team
Deleting a team or an account now shows how many guides go with it, and you type a phrase such as DELETE TEAM AND 12 GUIDES to confirm.
June 2026
Sign in with SSO in one click
A Sign in with SSO button now sits on the login and signup pages: type a work email or company domain and go straight to your identity provider.
Your brand and your format on every guide
Upload a logo and brand colors in Settings and they carry into PDF and PowerPoint exports. Admins can also build guide templates from blocks such as purpose, scope and FAQ, and AI-generated guides follow the default one.
Invited teammates get in faster
People invited to a team, organization or guide now get a shorter onboarding, with no plan picker and no question about how they heard of Glitter. Viewers also skip the desktop download.
Make someone an admin in one choice
Team roles are now Viewer, Editor and Admin in one picker, when you invite someone and when you change a role. The invite form shows in bold when an invite adds a paid seat.
Send guides to Zendesk, Notion, Word and PowerPoint
Publish guides from the Share menu as a Zendesk Help Center article or a Notion page, and publishing again updates the same one. Guides also download as Word documents and PowerPoint decks.
May 2026
PDFs that read correctly in Hebrew, Arabic and more
Hebrew, Arabic and other right-to-left guides now lay out right to left in PDF exports, with letters in the right order, and a bundled font covers more writing systems.
Guides written fully in the language you speak
Recordings narrated in a language other than English now come out fully in that language, including the title, headings, alerts, table headers and search description. Glitter also saves the detected language on the guide.
Stop guides from leaving the company
Organization admins can now turn off public sharing, limit invites to a list of allowed email domains, and choose whether guides can be embedded publicly, only securely, or not at all.
Manage everyone in your company from one page
A People page in Settings now lists everyone in the organization, with search, team chips, and editor and viewer counts. From it, admins can invite people, change admin rights, remove members and pick each person's teams.
Protect accounts with an authenticator app
Add an authenticator app to your account and Glitter will ask for a 6-digit code when you sign in. Organization admins can make it optional, required without SSO, or required for everyone.
One subscription and credit pool for every team
An Enterprise subscription can now belong to the organization and cover every team in it from one shared credit pool. Organization admins see the pool balance and can set optional credit limits per team.
Playbooks that write their own intro
Collections are now Playbooks. Pick guides from a list and Glitter writes the playbook's title, description and intro from them in about a minute, and Regenerate Intro rewrites the overview as guides change.
Let your AI assistant read your guides
AI assistants can now connect to Glitter over MCP and sign in with your Glitter account. Once you approve one, it can list, search and read your guides as Markdown.
April 2026
See who else is editing, and where
When several people edit the same guide, each other editor's caret now shows in their own color with a name label, so you can see where others are typing. Everyone's avatars sit in the editor header.
Organize guides in folders
The library now has nested folders, each with its own icon and color. Drag guides in, with undo, and find anything with Cmd or Ctrl+K. Each team's tags were turned into folders.
Jump to any section of a long guide
Long guides now have a Table of Contents built from their headings, shown as a left column on wide screens and as a panel you can show or hide on narrower ones.
Add one feature without changing plans
Add one feature without moving to a higher plan. Add-ons such as Longer Recordings, SAML SSO, SCORM Export and Audit Trail are listed on the billing page, each with a monthly price.
See what a version changed before you restore it
Version history now shows what changed since the version before it: added text in green, removed text in red and struck through.
Add tables to your guides
Insert a table from the inline menu by picking rows and columns, then add, remove, merge and split cells from its toolbar. Tables carry into PDF, HTML and Markdown exports.
Close the tab while your guide is written
Glitter now writes the steps and the article on its servers, so you can navigate away while a guide is generated. When it is done, Glitter emails you a link to open it.
Phone-shaped recordings that look right
Guides from portrait recordings, from a phone or a vertical monitor, now cap step screenshots in height and frame them on a dark background. The guide video, clip viewer, frame picker and trimmer all fit portrait video.
Fix a failed payment without leaving Glitter
When a payment fails, a dialog now shows the amount due and a card form that pays the open invoice and makes the new card your default, so you never need to find the billing portal.
March 2026
Change your plan from the Billing page
The Billing page now shows the plan cards, so an admin can upgrade, switch from monthly to annual, or keep the current plan after a cancellation without leaving it. Billing history shows each invoice's status.
Ask for access to a private guide
The page you see on a private guide now has a Request Access button that emails the owner, who can open the share settings with your email already filled in.
Take the words of a recording with you
Get the spoken words of a recording out of Glitter: the share menu now has a Transcript option to copy it as plain text or save it as a .txt file named after the guide.
Large video uploads that survive a bad connection
Large videos now upload in parts, several at a time, and the upload pauses while you are offline and resumes when you reconnect. Uploaded videos also play in Safari and on iPhone and iPad.
February 2026

Put any guide into your LMS as a course
Export any guide as a SCORM package and upload it directly to any learning management system - Workday, Cornerstone, Moodle, and more. The package auto-completes lessons when viewed and works fully offline.
Exports that work offline, images included
HTML and Markdown exports now support inline image embedding - all images are baked directly into the file as data URIs. Fully self-contained, works offline, no dependency on Glitter servers.
Reorder steps and write lists with less effort
Reordering steps just got way smoother - new drag-and-drop with visual drop indicators and auto-scrolling. Plus full support for numbered and bulleted lists, better keyboard shortcuts, and a bunch of UX polish across the editor.
PDF exports that finish faster, with progress you can see
